O Christmas Tree

We’ve had a busy week–celebrating American Christmas with Jennifer’s family, doing just a little bit of editing and a lot of eating, and watching more movies than we can count (Avatar in IMAX 3D was amazing!). We always enjoy the holiday season, as we get to celebrate many cultures in many ways.   First, it was Thanksgiving, and our new tradition of turkey meatballs. Christmas has just passed us. To look forward to: celebrating the New Year, Orthodox Christmas, and Russian Old New Year. Than means that we have holidays from the end of November to mid-January!

This year I’m excited to have our own Christmas tree. Since we moved to the US we’ve spent the holidays away (either in Ukraine or Montana). This year, we’re spending the whole holiday season in our own cozy apartment. So I finally got to crack out the ornaments I’ve been saving for years.

I first started collecting glass ornaments when I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ukraine. The silly hand-painted ornaments were too cute to pass up. I’ve spent the past 6 years acquiring just the perfect ornaments for me, and now us.

You got a sneak peek of our tree in the Cans for Comments post and only today have I completed trimming the tree.

Some of my favorite ornaments up close. Two cute Santas: one from Ukraine the other a silly Santa from Target.  Row 2: more Eastern European ornaments: a hippo from the amazing Christmas market in Prague and a monkey from Ukraine (the first ornament I picked up–it was my first New Year’s in Ukraine and we were ringing in the year of the monkey). Finally, a silly snowman and the beautiful seal my mom picked out for us this year.
I love my ornaments and I will continue to collect them as I live and I travel. I’m glad that I don’t have to pack up my tree just yet and I can enjoy them for a few more weeks!

Happy Holidays from Zinchuk Studios: no matter where or how you celebrate the season, we wish you love, happiness, and togetherness!!

Remember: we’re still doing cans for comments!  Leave a comment here or anywhere and we’ll donate a can to the local food bank, Northwest Harvest!

I know! Hippos are awesome, especially on Christmas trees!

I like the hippo!
