Solomiya and Vitalik are such a loving couple. Solomiya has a great eye for style and all the little details made it such an elegant affair. From morning preparations at downtown Seattle’s Fairmont Olympic hotel to the gorgeous decor at the ceremony and reception venue, it was a joy to shoot their wedding. They lucked out to have such a GORGEOUS Seattle day–it was a blast shooting at Golden Gardens after the wedding.

We actually had fun shooting all day–we are friends with Solomiya’s brother Vlad (who gave the most heartfelt toast!), who is the main photographer at Voir Photography. You can see their beautiful wedding pictures on his blog.

When we shoot wedding films, it is so important to find a way to creatively edit the film so that we can tell the couple’s story in a unique way. Their “trash the dress” session at Ocean Shores gave us the inspiration we needed. We blended their vows (in Ukrainian) with music and images to set the mood for their film. We decided to translate Vlad’s toast from Ukrainian with subtitles so everyone could follow along!

{Re-Post} Max + Tamila | Alaska Wedding

This is a re-post from June 2010. In an effort to make sure that musicans are properly compensated for their work, we have removed films which do not have proper licensing. We recently obtained a license for One Republic’s “All This Time” via Song Freedom (www.songfreedom.com).

Our trip to Alaska was a new experience for us in many ways. Neither of us had ever been to Alaska AND it was our first time taking all of our equipment on a plane. Imagine packing a steadicam, glide track, tripod, monopod, 3 cameras, lenses. . . there wasn’t much room left for clothing! Needless to say, we were a little crazy packing and worrying as we stayed up all night waiting for our 4:30 am trip to the airport. The moment we handed our checked bags to the agent, it was like the world was lifted off our backs! And you know what, we were totally under-weight on our suitcases. We really could have squeezed more equipment–or a new wardrobe–into those bags!

The weather was windy, sunny, cool, and foggy. We were shocked by how late the days really lasted–at 10pm it felt like 5pm in Seattle. The “golden-hour” lasted for about 6 hours. It was awesome!

Max and Tamila absolutely showed us a great time! More importantly, they had a wonderful wedding that came together with so much support from their family and friends. People flew in from as far away as Pennsylvania and Iowa and “nearby” places like Delta Junction, Alaska. We have so many great memories from this trip!! A big THANK YOU and CONGRATS to Max & Tamila!!!

Robin + Dennis: The Spirit of the Day

We’re a little behind on blogging–but that’s because our baby is here! We’ll post the birth announcement very soon, but we wanted to make sure that this highlights film was blogged

Robin & Dennis’s wedding was on a gorgeous July day at the Seattle Aquarium. The bright sunlight posed a few challenges (shooting into the sun for the ceremony) but because of that challenging light we ended up with some gorgeous ceremony shots! and despite the bright light, we love the way everything turned out! It was such a fun film to put together–we decided to approach things a little differently: instead of highlighting live sound from the toasts or vows, we let the shots flow with the music to tell the story of Robin & Dennis’s happy day!

Of course, this amazing day wouldn’t have come together so beautifully if not for the team Robin & Dennis pulled together:

We first met Chanvatha at the 2010 Get Hitched, Give Hope–she first made an impression with her excitement for her wedding and her support of our creative work. She also turned out to be our silent auction winner–she bid the winning amount for a Love Story Film–the proceeds of which all went to Get Hitched, Give Hope’s charity, the Dream Foundation, which grants wishes to adults with terminal diseases.

We spent one Saturday afternoon shooting this Love Story Film and put it together to show at their intimate Hawaiian wedding. They were so cute–slightly nervous during their individual interviews, they came alive when they were together. Such a great couple! It was such an honor to be a part of their Love Story.

Isaac + Natalya: Family, Friends, Fun!

Over the weekend we finished a sneak peek of Isaac & Natalya’s June wedding. It was a beautiful Seattle day and this happy couple were so full of energy. They decided to forgo the ‘first glance’ in favor of seeing each other at the ceremony, so we had to look elsewhere to find their story. After looking through the shots and reminiscing about their amazing day, we realized that the story is in their relationships. It is in their faith, their love for each other and the people in their lives, and their ability to have a really good time! This little film was a joy to put together. We wish the happy couple all the best in their adventures abroad!!

Heath + Andrea: I will be your Superman

Heath and Andrea were childhood friends, but life took them separate ways. They re-connected via Facebook and rekindled their friendship–and romance. On this beautiful May day, two families were united.

They have so much in common–a love of music, Seattle, family, Superman…. Andrea drew the amazing tattoos Heath now wears on his biceps. They will honeymoon in Paris, so the Eiffel tower was just one symbol of the amazing future they will share!

Vlad & Victoria: Do you remember this place?

Finally we are able to show this love story film that we have been creating over the past couple weeks with Vlad and Victoria. They were so excited to share their journey to marriage with their friends and family–and it was an adventure to create. Victoria gave us a loose “screenplay” with locations and events, but we all had to figure out the technical details as they came. We had to make some date changes because of the weather, location changes because of restrictions. . .and it took a while for everyone to get coordinated. But it all worked out for the best in the end! We even had the unexpected participation of Victoria’s father–his segment is in Ukrainian, but it is easy for anyone to pick up the tension in the air as Vlad asked for Victoria’s hand.

This film premiered last night at their wedding reception to an enthusiastic audience!!

Winter is a quiet time of year in the wedding business. Although we are very busy right now editing films and booking upcoming weddings, this is the type of work that goes on behind the scenes. In order to give our filmmaker friends as well as newly-engaged couples some wedding film inspiration, we thought we’d share two resources.

We formed this group about a year ago as a place for wedding filmmakers from around the world to share their best work. We try to place a few outstanding films as “featured” on the right side-bar. It’s a great place to gather ideas and inspiration–Alex visits every morning with his morning coffee. 2010 in Review!

2010 has been ZinchukFilms’ most exciting year yet! It has been a year filled with love, laughter, and a lot of travel! Here’s a quick recap of the couples we got to know over the year!

We began the year with two gorgeous winter weddings. Both Vasiliy and Irina and Nick and Anna began their lives together last January.

Also last winter, we had two fun Love Story shoots: Valentin and Julia had a very snowy shoot on Mt Rainier. Although Chris and Jodie’s love story was shot in February, you’d never guess–it was t-shirt weather. Chris & Jodie are adventurers–they introduced us to Seattle’s version of tight-rope-walking, also known as slacklining.

In March, Ruslan and Lena said their vows & Ruslan serenaded his bride with the most romantic love song.

We headed to Bellingham for an emotional April wedding: Dan and Tracy are so in love and they had such great support from an amazing family.

In May, we captured Viktor and Alena’s wedding day alongside photographer Alex Udodik, followed by an epic Trash the Dress session that included an encounter with the law! This month we also had a few commercial shoots: we captured Mario Batali’s interview with Tom Douglas for Seattle Met Magazine as well as a top-secret commercial video shoot in Tacoma.

Just as the summer season began, we packed our bags and headed to our first destination wedding ever–in Anchorage, Alaska. It took quite a bit of strategizing to bring 3 cameras, 2 tripods, a steadicam, a slider, and plenty of lenses in our luggage, but we managed. It was actually easier than we thought! Max and Tamila were the best hosts ever–showing us around the Anchorage area, taking us shooting, and of course, putting on the wedding of the year!

July was a busy month–we had several Seattle-area weddings. Karen and Steve put on an elegant wedding at Seattle’s Sunset club and we were proud that their hilarious Love Story set the mood for their reception.

Daniela & Greg were married at the beautiful St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church and had a fun Moldovan-style reception in Bellevue. Chris and Jodie tied the knot in Queen Anne and had a fun reception in Snohomish. It was quite the month of love!

August was our busiest month yet! Aaron and Milana put on a sophisticated affair: wedding at Kubota Gardens followed by a lovely reception at the Harbor Club in Seattle. The next weekend we headed to Spokane for Irina and Alex’s anniversary celebration. Kathryn and Edwin married in a gorgeous Catholic ceremony at Seattle University, followed by a great lunch reception at Newcastle Golf Club.

To round out the month, we helped Valentin and Julia finally celebrate their big day! We also managed to shoot a promo film for Voir Photography!

Our wedding season wrapped up with a bang! Labor Day weekend was spent on the Big Island, Hawaii. Matt and Nikki had the most laid back wedding I’ve ever experienced–tropical air, salty waters, good food, and close friends and family definitely helped create the mood. After getting back, we spent the day with Julie and Gena, celebrating their love and happiness.

October was a quiet month–after Alex headed to Ukraine for a few weeks to spend time with his family, we had some time to relax–and have fun. One highlight of the month was the amazing evening spent at Get Hitched, Give Hope where we auctioned off a Love Story for a very good cause! The month ended with the wedding of the very sweet couple: Roman & Nataliya.

Since our season ended, we have been hiding away working. Although we’re not out shooting each weekend, Alex has been working in his “editing cave” daily. This is the season when we finish wedding edits and make deliveries of final wedding films. It is also the season for new bookings.
