You’ve already seen their Love Story, now here are all their photos! We had so much fun with different locations and outfits. I love the glamorous look of their formal session at Golden Gardens/downtown Bellevue. Later we met for some casual fun slacklining (a.k.a. tightrope walking) and hanging out at Kerry Park. A fun weekend with a great couple!!

Love Story: Chris + Jodie

We have been so lucky to have such warm weather so early in Seattle. That means we’ve begun our spring engagement shoots early!

A few weeks ago we had the opportunity to shoot Chris & Jodie’s love story. We were recommended to them by friends, and as fellow Montanans (from Helena), Jodie and I found we have a ton in common. Chris is the perfect partner for Jodie–together they are so silly and fun. We had the best time with them–walking the beach in formal wear, hitting up Bellevue at sunset, and slack-lining (the real name for their tightrope-walking antics). Their story is as unique as they are–enjoy!

Engagement: Alex + Angela

What an amazing weekend in Seattle! I can’t believe it’s only the end of February and the cherry trees are beginning to bloom, daffodils are out, the skies are COMPLETELY blue, and it’s 60 degrees. A small part of me worries about what’s to come, but mostly, I’ve just been enjoying it!

Luckily for Alex and Angela, the weather was amazing this weekend and we were able to really get Seattle at its best. We had a quick engagement session at Alkai beach and it was a blast!

I love packages! When I went away to college, packages always reminded me that my mommy was thinking of me. When I studied abroad in Europe, packages provided me with American food (reese’s peanut butter cups) and working deodorant. And when I was in the Peace Corps, packages brought me books and films in English and a reminder of a world outside Ukraine.

Now I wait in expectation of packages from Europe, providing amazing quality printing and binding in Italy. Although albums can often take up to 6 weeks to create, the first album we got came as a surprise. I came home one day to a UPS message on the door. They had tried to deliver a package and yet I wasn’t expecting anything. I did a little investigating and my package was from Italy! And weeks earlier than I expected. I love the great service GraphiStudio provides!

I always love getting something in the mail, so I was thrilled when Toly & Zhanna’s fabulous album arrived. Sure, it’s not my wedding but it is still like Christmas to get such a beautiful package in the mail! I carefully opened it to take a few photos and show you all before I send it to the happy couple.

This is our standard 9.5×13″ flush-mount album with Crystal glance cover and leather binding. It is sturdy and elegant. I can’t wait to get it boxed up again and sent off to the lucky couple!

You might remember Vitaliy and Julia from their June 2009 wedding. Or maybe from their awesome photo/video session a few weeks later. Since the weather here is rainy and spirits a little gloomy, we thought we’d post their video from that gorgeous summer day as a reminder of how love–and a little sunshine–can brighten anyone’s day!

Wedding: Nick + Anna

Although we have the occasional lazy weekend, this year is off to a busy start! We are juggling both finishing the long edits from our summer weddings and filming new weddings. We have new client inquiries every day and consultations and bookings every week. Luckily we added a new laptop computer to our studio recently, so we are more mobile and can do many more things at once.

Last weekend we filmed Nick and Anna’s awesome wedding, and when our other computers were busy rendering video and burning Blu-Rays, we took a moment to put together this trailer.

Nick and Anna are the kindest people. They have a genuine love and are loved by many. Their wedding filled the Slavic Pentecostal Church ‘Sulamita’ and so many of our past couples were there as guests–it was a wonderful reunion! It was also wonderful to work with their wedding photographer, Alex Udodik, once again. He will soon be a familiar name around here, as we have a couple more weddings with him this spring.

Lazy Weekends

On the few weekends when we aren’t busy with weddings, client meetings, or other forms of work, we like to be completely lazy. Like a sleep-’till-noon-and-lounge-around-the-house-in-our-pjs-watching-movies kind of lazy.

However, a few weeks ago we got up and dressed and out of the house to cook with some friends. One day, Linda (a classmate) and I decided that we should meet once a month to just hang out and cook. Added bonus–her husband is Chinese/Taiwanese and is a great cook! So a few weeks ago they invited us over taught us how to make egg rolls and created an amazing feast of some of the best Aisan food I’ve ever had.

Linda teaches me how to properly roll and secure egg rolls.

And I pass on the knowledge to Alex. . .

Yummy salads! I especially loved this baked-tofu and hard-boiled egg salad. The anise spice permeated the eggs in the strangest, most wonderful way!

Next month is our turn and clearly the bar has been set high. We’re still working on the menu, but borsht is first on the list. Anyone have suggestions of Russian/Ukrainian food that we must cook?

Wedding: Vasiliy + Irina

We began shooting 2010 weddings right out of the gates–we’re just three weeks into the new year and we’ve already captured one wedding and have another next weekend.

Winter weddings always have a special feel–crisp, cool, and clean. Vasily and Irina’s wedding was no exception. We decided to use our Canon 5d Mark II camera almost exclusively to shoot video in order to make the most of the winter light.

This wedding was very religious and sentimental. It was fun to be a part of such a meaningful day.

Engagement: Matt + Nikki

Nikki and I go way back–sisters in college (back in the sorority days)–but we haven’t seen each other in years. I was excited to hear of her engagement, and thrilled when she and Matt asked us to be their wedding photographer and videographer. The best part–aside from spending such a special day with an old friend and the love of her life–the wedding is in Hawaii!

We met to talk wedding plans at the McMenamins Edgefield in Oregon. It was great to catch up–and of course grab a few photos!

A lot has changed in the last several years, but friendship remains

The holidays haven’t yet ended in our little household. Today we’re celebrating Russian Orthodox Christmas. Everything is low-key since our Orthodox friends and family are all abroad, but we’re celebrating nevertheless. Last night we made turkey meatballs, today we relaxed and we’re going to have a meatball feast soon. It’s such a relaxed day that I didn’t bother with photos. Instead, I’ll leave you with this cute Christmas Matryoshka set
