We lived in Seattle itself last year, and yet we had never gone to Pike’s Place Market. Alex doesn’t love crowds (and I have already been there), so it was never on the agenda. However, yesterday all that changed. We had a meeting in Seattle with a prospective bride and groom for a 2011! wedding and afterward, I made it my mission to make it to the market. On the agenda: peroshkies and fish. First I found Piroshky, Piroshky, the famous Seattle Russian bakery. I made several choices: smoked salmon piroshky; potato, mushroom, celery piroshky; and a smoked mozzarella and broccoli piroshkiy. Finally, I chose a sweet apple and cinnamon roll. Yum, yum, yum!  We LOVED the smoked salmon treat–warm, creamy–just perfect!  I might try to make it myself.

Then we went over to the fish market. The prices weren’t bad and I was in need of fresh salmon, so we picked out our fish. It’s not every day your fresh fish gets tossed around–it was quite the experience!!

Like a typical day in Seattle, it soon started raining.  Before we ran to the car, I made Alex stop for a classic Seattle portrait. I apologize for the quality of the pics–all we had was our little point-and-shoot :)

All in all, a fun afternoon :)

Happy Holidays! Now that Thanksgiving is over and winter is upon us, the holiday season is here! In order to help out those in need this winter, we’ve decided to host a “cans for comments” competition on our blog.

The rules: for each comment you make from now until JANUARY 13 (Russian Old New Year), we will donate 1 can of food to a local food bank. For each person to make 5 or more comments, we will donate a larger food item, such as a holiday ham. You may comment ANYWHERE on the Zinchuk Studios blog, about anything, and we will keep you updated occasionally with totals.

A huge tin of cookies from one of our couples! I always love to get mail, and this kind of package really made our week. These tasty European cookies are amazing–I’m addicted after trying just one.  And finally, I can get Alex to eat something with his coffee!

I have been running for the last few weeks; trying to keep up with photo editing, school work, teaching, and planning. I’ve hardly had time to think. Putting the breaks on for just a couple days is such a blessing! Since I got home at 6pm last night, I’ve done nothing but relax. We slept ’till almost 1pm today and now I’m cooking and cleaning. Turning down the pressure for just a few hours has already given me some clarity and peace. And for that, I’m VERY thankful.

We are both so thankful for our supportive families: mine in Montana and Alex’s in Ukraine. Since Alex’s family is so far away and my family is coming out to the Seattle area for Christmas, we’re spending Thanksgiving as just the two of us. Rather than preparing a big fat turkey for just the two of us, we decided to start our own traditions and make turkey meatballs. You see, we’ve got Turkey and the meatballs are almost like Ukrainian kutlety.  For dessert, Alex was inspired by one of those chef shows on TV and decided to make raspberry souffle in an apple–awesome!

Our feast!  And can I just say that that burning log is made from coffee? Not sure how it works, but it burned fore-ever!

We are thankful for our health, our business, and all our opportunities.  Alex has so many ideas to improve both the quality and ease of our cinematography business. I am thankful for each day spent in a warm home full of love with a roof over our heads.

To our couples and our friends & family: thank you for inspiring us and supporting us! It means so much!!
