But they probably didn’t know that there’s also a wedding planning guide that gives great regional tips on locations, what to look for in a photographer, and tips for the shoots themselves. An article I recently wrote (inspired by this blog entry) was just chosen to be a part of their guide.

Why are props so great? They give you something to do with your hands and they add eye-candy for the viewer. They can spice up an ordinary shot give you the excuse to play a little bit and liven up the scene!

You like the look of balloons? A recent post on the Wedding Chicks gives shopping advice for fabulous giant balloons (rather than, um, ‘borrowing’ them from your shoot location ;) ).  Want the perfect parasol?  Seattle vendor Bella Umbrella has so many beautiful umbrellas that might be impossible to choose the perfect one!  We found the above fabulous kite at Gasworks Park Kite Shop. Their selection of kites is huge so get inspired!  I also love thank you cards, white boards for comments and even my family’s soon-to-be-famous glasses/mustache combo :)

Here are some of the products I have found:

Wedding Paper Divas – Save the Date Cards: I love these! I want to get married all over again so that I can use their save the dates, invites, and thank-yous! Good contemporary choices that allow you to follow a theme throughout all your paper products–and they do wedding websites, too!  Their Photo Save the Dates are awesome–I like what I see and I will order some samples soon so that I have something to show you in person! They run at about $1.50 ea for Save the Dates.

Photo Card Chef invitations: Haven’t tried them out yet, but they seem to offer what many people are looking for–classy, tri-fold photo invitations. These are actually pretty hard to find. Maybe pricy at $3.50 an invite, but they will definitely impress!

Inkubook Wedding Guest Book: Want to display all your great engagement photos? Want to inspire your guests when signing the guestbook, not bore them? This is the perfect option!! And prices start at only $25 for a hardcover!! I want one myself :)

I love to read photography blogs, family blogs, wedding sites, gossip blogs. . .I have a pretty pathetic list of favorites/feeds.

But this obsession really pays off when I come across an up-and-coming gem like Seattle Style. It is an awesome Seattle wedding planning website for the eco-conscious, fashion-forward, sassy bride. It has planning tips and a fun, frequently-updated blog (and amazing watercolor graphics–take a moment to admire all their beautiful bridal portraits).

I love all the little tips and pointers on their blog, The Lounge.  And for brides (and grooms) in other cities, they have sites for Portland and L.A.!
