Taz + Chanvatha: Love Story

We first met Chanvatha at the 2010 Get Hitched, Give Hope–she first made an impression with her excitement for her wedding and her support of our creative work. She also turned out to be our silent auction winner–she bid the winning amount for a Love Story Film–the proceeds of which all went to Get Hitched, Give Hope’s charity, the Dream Foundation, which grants wishes to adults with terminal diseases.

We spent one Saturday afternoon shooting this Love Story Film and put it together to show at their intimate Hawaiian wedding. They were so cute–slightly nervous during their individual interviews, they came alive when they were together. Such a great couple! It was such an honor to be a part of their Love Story.

Adiane & Avram plus two: Anytime | Zinchuk Studios

Remember this gorgeous mama?

We finally had a chance to hang out with Adiane, Avram and their new addition back in August. It’s so funny how two parents can have such different children: their daughter is an adventurer; so full of energy . . . while their baby boy is the calmest, sweetest boy I’ve met. A huge contratulations to Adiane and Avram on their new addition! It is our great pleasure to be friends with such wonderful parents and such fun, sweet children. Much happiness and love to you all!

Wedding: Gregoriy + Daniela – Part II | Bellevue Wedding Photography and Cinematography

A few days ago I posted part I of Gregoriy and Daniela’s gorgeous Russian Orthodox wedding. Now I have the pleasure of sharing their celebration! After the ceremony, we stopped by the University of Washington (where Greg studies–as do the bride’s brother and her maid of honor) for a few portraits. Then we headed back to Bellevue for their reception at the Newport Hills Swim and Tennis Club. I LOVE the natural light in this space–it is the perfect venue for smaller weddings!!

As with the Russian Orthodox ceremony, their reception was filled with many wonderful traditions! Again, many were familiar and appeared–in some version–at Alex and my wedding. I’m sharing some of the most special here

Daniela really brought together so many wonderful details!!

First the parents of the bride and groom met the couple with bread and wine at the door to the reception–then the bride and groom greeted their guests!

Later, they broke the traditional wedding bread together. They say that the person with the larger piece will be the head of the household . . . but they ended up with equal pieces! (Who do you think got the bigger piece at Alex and my wedding?!)

Such lovely dancing: first dance and traditional dances!

Finally, at the end of the evening, there are a series of traditions that show the transition of the bride from, well, bride to wife. In Moldovan weddings, the groom is seated on a chair and given a very fluffy pillow. The bride sits on his lap and then they are tied to the chair. The bride’s veil is then removed and she is given a scarf and apron. Gifts are then presented to the happy couple!

There were so many more events during the evening–amazing food, yummy cake, gypsy dancing and on and on and on! Here are just a few more photos take throughout the evening!

Jessica and Katie: Anytime | Seattle Portrait Photography

What a perfect evening! After a busy weekend, we met with Jessica and Katie for a quick Anytime session. It was scheduled perfectly to get the best light and some really cool clouds. These beautiful sisters were so easy to work with–their brilliant smiles made my job easy! It also worked out that both Alex and I were avaliable to shoot so it was a blast to get everything from two angles!

Although they live thousands of miles away, it is clear that they are very close. Jessica decided to schedule an Anytime session at my special Summer rates to get some fun pics with little sister visiting for the week. When we started, Jessica said we could do anything, shoot anywhere. . . but she did bring two props: they both LOVE to read and they share a love of the Twilight books. And you know what, the pics with the books just might be my favorites

Adiane, Avram, and Family: Anytime

Adiane and Avram study with Jennifer at the University of Washington. They are the most loving couple and make wonderful parents to Ana Sophia. With a little boy on the way, we couldn’t help but celebrate their growing family with an anytime session. It was so fun to hang out under the cherry trees at UW and play just a little–a nice break from school/teaching/exams!

Ruslan + Lena: A Love Song

We knew that Ruslan and Lena were cool from their Love Story, but we had no idea they were so talented. Ruslan surprised us all with an amazing serenade for his new wife. They really made our jobs easy for us with their great style, talents, and open hearts.

This shoot turned out very fortuitously–we knew we had late November weather do deal with, so we got some bright balloons. No one anticipated that they would play such an important role in this love story! I love how we were able to really tell Ruslan and Lena’s story symbolically AND have a ton of fun!

Everything was shot on our Canon 5D mkII, and we’re in love! That camera has been my precious all summer for photos and I’m afraid I’ll never get it back after letting Alex use it this weekend to film. After we have a chance to post a clip, you’ll understand why he loves it so much!

Sage, Ken, and Family: Anytime

Sage was referred to me by Kristina‘s mom Yelena–I couldn’t be a luckier photographer. Yet again, I got to run around with an awesome family and record their happy moments. This adorable family of 4 was totally high-energy and high-fun! It took a lot of energy to keep up with the girls, Khiarra and Madison, I don’t know how you guys do it every day!
