Solomiya has a great eye for style and all the little details made it such an elegant affair.  From morning preparations at downtown Seattle’s Fairmont Olympic hotel to the gorgeous decor at the ceremony and reception venue, it was a joy to shoot their wedding.  They lucked out to have such a GORGEOUS Seattle day–it was a blast shooting at Golden Gardens after the wedding.

We actually had fun shooting all day–we are friends with Solomiya’s brother Vlad (who gave the most heartfelt toast!), who is the main photographer at Voir Photography.  You can see their beautiful wedding pictures on his blog.

When we shoot wedding films, it is so important to find a way to creatively edit the film so that we can tell the couple’s story in a unique way.  Their “trash the dress” session at Ocean Shores gave us the inspiration we needed. We blended their vows (in Ukrainian) with music and images to set the mood for their film. We decided to translate Vlad’s toast from Ukrainian with subtitles so everyone could follow along!

In an effort to make sure that musicans are properly compensated for their work, we have removed films which do not have proper licensing. We recently obtained a license for One Republic’s “All This Time” via Song Freedom (www.songfreedom.com).

Our trip to Alaska was a new experience for us in many ways.  Neither of us had ever been to Alaska AND it was our first time taking all of our equipment on a plane.  Imagine packing a steadicam, glide track, tripod, monopod, 3 cameras, lenses. . .  there wasn’t much room left for clothing!  Needless to say, we were a little crazy packing and worrying as we stayed up all night waiting for our 4:30 am trip to the airport. The moment we handed our checked bags to the agent, it was like the world was lifted off our backs!  And you know what, we were totally under-weight on our suitcases. We really could have squeezed more equipment–or a new wardrobe–into those bags!

The weather was windy, sunny, cool, and foggy. We were shocked by how late the days really lasted–at 10pm it felt like 5pm in Seattle. The “golden-hour” lasted for about 6 hours. It was awesome!

Max and Tamila absolutely showed us a great time!  More importantly, they had a wonderful wedding that came together with so much support from their family and friends. People flew in from as far away as Pennsylvania and Iowa and “nearby” places like Delta Junction, Alaska.  We have so many great memories from this trip!!  A big THANK YOU and CONGRATS to Max & Tamila!!!

In my opinion, it is the best bridal show/part Seattle has to offer. Last year’s party was a blast–and raised over $64,000 to grant wishes for stage 4 metastatic breast cancer patients. GHGH is a pretty awesome concept: bring together the best wedding vendors Seattle has to offer so that brides can bid in both the silent auction and the fast-paced live auction to get great deals on bridal gear and all the proceeds go to charity!!

This year’s event is Thursday, October 27th from 6-9pm, at the Four Seasons hotel in downtown Seattle. This year’s goal is to raise $75,000 to grant wishes for adult patients with life-threatening illnesses and their families, and ZinchukFilms is doing it’s part. We are donating a full wedding film package to the cause!!!

Last year, Taz and Channy won an extra-special Love Story film and it was so fun telling their story, which was shown at the wedding of their dreams.  This year we decided to up the ante and donate our ‘Vintage Fusion’ wedding film package—an over $2,500 value!  It includes up to 8 hours of wedding day coverage on high definition film AND vintage Super 8 film.  We will edit the events of the wedding day into a cinematic film that lasts up to 15 minutes.  This is an exciting way to remember the sounds and moments that made your day really special!!

Robin & Dennis’s wedding was on a gorgeous July day at the Seattle Aquarium.  The bright sunlight posed a few challenges (shooting into the sun for the ceremony) but because of that challenging light we ended up with some gorgeous ceremony shots!   and despite the bright light, we love the way everything turned out!  It was such a fun film to put together–we decided to approach things a little differently: instead of highlighting live sound from the toasts or vows, we let the shots  flow with the music to tell the story of Robin & Dennis’s happy day!

Of course, this amazing day wouldn’t have come together so beautifully if not for the team Robin & Dennis pulled together:

It was a beautiful Seattle day and this happy couple were so full of energy. They decided to forgo the ‘first glance’ in favor of seeing each other at the ceremony, so we had to look elsewhere to find their story. After looking through the shots and reminiscing about their amazing day, we realized that the story is in their relationships. It is in their faith, their love for each other and the people in their lives, and their ability to have a really good time! This little film was a joy to put together. We wish the happy couple all the best in their adventures abroad!!

We formed this group about a year ago as a place for wedding filmmakers from around the world to share their best work. We try to place a few outstanding films as “featured” on the right side-bar. That didn’t leave much time for wedding portraits, so they scheduled a Trash the Dress session a few months later. Daniela is a designer by trade, so she put her talent to use with a ton of DIY props. These are just a few of the first shots we captured at Alki Beach. More pics of this gorgeous couple to come!

Alex is always trying to come up with new ideas to present wedding films in a new way. Months ago, he had the idea to contrast a little girl dreaming of her wedding with a beautiful bride celebrating her day. We just had to find the perfect bride. When Nataliya emailed to say that she was engaged, I knew we had the right girl. She loved the idea and she quickly realized that her dressmaker’s daughter would be the perfect little actress. When we showed up to film, we had no idea how gorgeous it would turn out–the room of dresses was the perfect detail! And of course our favorite Seattle wedding magazine, Seattle Met Bride & Groom, had to make a cameo!

Nataliya and Roman complement each other perfectly and it was such a pleasure to spend this cool October day with them. They got ready at the Bellevue Hyatt Regency and its gorgeous lobby was the perfect setting for their “first look.” It is so wonderful when brides meet their groom before the ceremony. This private moment allows the couple to spend a few minutes together and share a few words. The first glimpse of your beloved in full wedding regalia is such an intimate moment — it is wonderful to have a few moments to allow it to sink in!

Congratulations to Roman & Nataliya! It was so wonderful to be a part of your day!!

It has been so great to get to know them and their friends and family. They have such a wonderful community of support and love surround them and that was SO evident during their wedding day.  It was a pleasure to shoot their wedding–Julia was such an elegant bride and Valentin a handsome groom.  We went to the state capitol in Olympia for pics and I really love the unique look the architecture gave.
